New Music Friday - March 2021 - Canadian Albums

TGIF! Most people are excited that the weekend has arrived, to have a break from work and enjoy a couple of drinks with friends and/or family (in a non-pandemic world of course). Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for that too... but I'm more excited for all of the new music coming out this month! Artists have had a full year of quarantine to perfect their albums, so I have a feeling that the post quarantine bops are going to either dominate the radio charts, or have you really dive deep into your couch for a good cry. Regardless, I'm excited!

1. Jordan Hart - "Only Pieces Of The Truth" EP

I’ve been waiting for this EP to come out for so long!  I’ve seen Jordan Hart a bunch of times since 2016 and every time I’m blown away by his vocals.  I wrote a review of the album on my blog, so check it out here: Jordan Hart - “Only Pieces Of The Truth” Review.

My favourite songs would have to be “Docks” and “Freedom.”  Both songs allow me to tune into my emotions by making me feel every note and beat of the song.  Those are two songs that I can passionately sing along with my best friend too.

I highly recommend you check out his YouTube channel to hear his acoustic versions with the bonus of being live in beautiful outdoor places.

2. Craig Stickland - "While We Wait For The Sun To Rise" EP

Here's another lowkey Canadian artist to add to your playlist!  Craig Stickland is a Vancouver born artist who moved to Toronto at a young age.  He’s a triple threat by being a model, actor and musician.  My friend introduced me to him a couple of years ago, after seeing him open for Alessia Cara .  During the recording of his previous album, he decked out a van and travelled across California recording some stripped down acoustic versions of his songs in National Parks.  Just beautiful!

My favourite song on the EP would have to be “Enemy.”  It reminds me of a soundtrack for a dramatic scene in a TV show when your two favourite characters break up after their relationship just wasn’t working out.  It features the one character pleading not to “make an enemy” of them.  It’s a simple yet dramatic song that everyone can relate to.

“We didn’t see the crash ‘til we’re staring down the tailpipe. We should’ve seen it coming, but we were stalling at the green light.”

3. Down With Webster - V

Okay, I was NOT expecting this album to drop. This band was always on my MP3 growing up and my mom would always get annoyed when I blasted their album “Time To Win” in the car. So when I saw "Down With Webster" pop up all over my Twitter feed, I was HYPED and instantly downloaded their new album.

The album was actually recorded back in 2015 but was never released until 2021.  Even today, their social media platforms have been hush, hush about their new album.  However, the individual members have shared the new album across their social media.  Marty, the drummer of the band said, “One more round for the good ol’ days. I hope this brings back some good nostalgia for everyone. Thank you so much for listening.”

Regardless, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a reunion tour.

4. Justin Bieber - Justice

Every time Justin Bieber announces a new album, my 2010 “Bieber Fever” comes out in full force. I might be biased (because I am a Georgia Peach), but "Peaches" is my favourite song from the album. All jokes aside, Justin Bieber has been very public lately with how he's been really focusing on his health. Healthy mind, means a bomb ass album in his case. I'm rooting for this Canadian!

I'll be writing an album review, so keep posted for that coming up!

Hello, my name is Georgia Ormerod. I'm a typical 20-something-year-old that loves to read, write, ride horses and attend live music events. I've been described as a "country girl who wears band t-shirts." Aka, I love working with horses, but at the same time, I love going downtown to attend concerts. So horses and concerts are "kinda" my thing. As the great poet Hannah Montana once said, "I got the best of both worlds."
