I’ve been waiting for this EP to come out for so long!  I first discovered Jordan Hart when he performed at a Canada Day celebration in 2016. His vocals BLEW me away and all I could think of was “Who is this guy, and why don't people know about him yet?” Jordan Hart is an up and coming Canadian artist that you really need to check out. He started out as a busker on the streets of Toronto, and played the Great Hall in Toronto back in 2020 right before Covid hit.

This past summer, Jordan Hart took advantage of playing music during the pandemic. He performed a “Sunset Session” tour that featured 10 fans who registered to attend outside concerts at various parks, all while socially distancing. I attended a couple of them, and it was a great way to enjoy some music while having a picnic and drinks with my best friend.  We got a sneak peak of his first EP and trust me when I say… it was WAY worth the wait.

“I guess one of the big blessings of Covid was it finally gave me enough time to finish my recordings that I’ve been working on”

“Only Pieces Of The Truth” by Jordan Hart is a poetic journey taking you down the road of his relationship with newlywed wife and musician; Emily Shultz (I HIGHLY recommend you check her out as well).

The album starts off with “Docks” that captures your imagination from the very beginning with a variety of different soothing sounds and provides a great lead into the overall vibe of the album. It comes in with soft vocals that automatically make you want to close your eyes and feel the music. The rhythm is floaty and gradually intensifies reminding me of The 1975 (who I absolutely adore). This song would be a great intro for a live show, or a great segway with cool visuals for an encore.

The kickoff for the beginning of a beautiful love story starts with a heartfelt rhythmic guitar on “I Don’t Want to Let You Go” (which is also the first single from the album).

“I wrote this song when I finally told this woman who I was falling in love with for 6 years how I felt about her. But she was always taken. And after a few times of meeting the guy that she was with, I kinda realized that he didn’t treat her the way that I thought she deserved to be treated
and he had no idea what we had. I got up my courage and confessed my feelings for her and she told me that she didn’t see that for us.”

I HIGHLY suggest you listen to this song with headphones. His voice bounces from ear to ear adding to the emotion of the story.

The album continues on their love journey with “Only Pieces of The Truth”, “The Light That Came To You” and “First Night''. All three songs bring you back to special memories with your loved one.

“Freedom” is by far the catchiest song on the album.  It pulls all of the songs together by subtly starting off and slowly building the rhythm to create an empowering anthem with fan relatable lyrics and a compelling melody. I can tell this will be a great song for fans to sing live. The official music video will be coming out in April, so stay tuned!

The album ends with “Whole” which calms you down from the high emotional energy of the previous song. The vocals in the back ties into the intro song which compliments the end of the album, and summarizes their relationship as a whole (no pun intended).|

“This ain't just common love, the stories they wrote for us are a thousand years old.”

“Tie them up. All of your broken chords. Cut by another's words, time to let it go”

“The vacancy inside my heart is whole”

Overall, this EP lived up to every expectation of mine. Take a listen on your desired streaming platform and let me know what you think!

Hello, my name is Georgia Ormerod. I'm a typical 20-something-year-old that loves to read, write, ride horses and attend live music events. I've been described as a "country girl who wears band t-shirts." Aka, I love working with horses, but at the same time, I love going downtown to attend concerts. So horses and concerts are "kinda" my thing. As the great poet Hannah Montana once said, "I got the best of both worlds."
