Field Trip Toronto Is Back After Going On Hiatus Since 2019

Concerts

This week has been concert announcement, after concert announcement. It’s refreshing to actually have hope that Toronto shows will be happening this summer (*knocks on wood.*) But one announcement really caught me by surprise, and I’m living for it.

Field Trip Toronto is back! They posted a cryptic message on Monday with a brand new logo, and confirmed on Tuesday on their Instagram that they will be returning in the Summer of 2022.

Field Trip is an indie music festival that ran from 2013 to 2019 at the Fort York & Garrison Common in Toronto. It was launched by “Arts & Crafts” which is a Canadian independent music label. Past performers include Metric, July Talk, Broken Social Scene, Portugal. The Man, and more.

Except this year will be running a little differently. Field Trip will be collaborating with the Ontario government through the Reconnect Festival and Event Program. The initiative is investing more than $7 million to help more than 100 local and virtual events get back on their feet. It helps them adapt to new public health measures that allow people to reconnect with their communities due to COVID-19. That means “Field Trip Life Launch” will feature live and virtual performances in 2022. Regardless, this is one that I’ll be marking on my calendar once the dates are officially announced.

Check out my blog article I wrote in 2017 about the perks of volunteering at a music festival. I had such a good experience working the event, and can’t wait for Field Trip 2022.

Hello, my name is Georgia Ormerod. I'm a typical 20-something-year-old that loves to read, write, ride horses and attend live music events. I've been described as a "country girl who wears band t-shirts." Aka, I love working with horses, but at the same time, I love going downtown to attend concerts. So horses and concerts are "kinda" my thing. As the great poet Hannah Montana once said, "I got the best of both worlds."
